2010 CALENDAR!! ALL THE PRETTY SNAKES AND BELLYDANCERS!

“All the Pretty Snakes (& Bellydancers)” was born from several passions- the beauty and mystery of snakes, history, mythology, culture, bellydance, the art of photography, to name a few… and is a creative collaboration between Tribal Bazaar/Yasemin Yildiz Designs and Weathervane Arts that began in September 2009.

When Yasemin performed at the Weathervane Arts hafla in July 2009 with her snake Shahmeran, it created not only curiousity, but respect for the typically ill-reputed reptile. After seeing how tame and non-threatening Shahmeran was, a few of us clamored over her, begged to have our pictures taken with her, and basically drooled over this amazing creature for as long as Yasemin would allow!

That may have been the catalyst for Yasemin when she approached Weathervane Arts in late-August with the idea to do photo shoots featuring bellydancers and snakes. Since both Tribal Bazaar and Weathervane Arts are active in the southern California bellydance community, finding dancers would be relatively easy. And the snakes? Well, Yasemin and Paul own more than 30 in a variety of species. With a surplus of snakes and bellydancers, the idea grew and a calendar idea was born! Each month featuring a different theme, a different snake (or perhaps more than one), and a different dancer.
